You will create a new level for your Rollerball game adding in some new features. Keep it simple and make it unique. You will start by submitting a level overview for approval. Make sure you include the components, mechanics, goals, and any rules. Draw out a simple sketch of your game demonstrating the game play.

Requirements: Due Date: VGD2 Friday 9/27, VGD3 Monday 9/30

  • Your project needs to add three new features
  • Must include all features of the original and group Rollerball games
  • Include sounds
  • UI for important information (scores, lives, etc…)

Rubric:

  • 15 points – Level overview proposal submitted
  • 10 points – Menus and UI
  • 10 points – Game can be won, lost, restarted, and quit
  • 10 points – Sound effects included
  • 45 Points – Three new features implemented
  • 10 points – Game is balanced: fun/easy to play – challenging to win

You will be working in your groups to add new features to the Roller Ball game.

Requirements

  • You will work in your ClassCraft group to develop three additions to your Roller Ball game.
  • These must be new features: Examples
    • Different objects to pick up that do something new
    • Powerups/downs
    • Hazards
    • New scoring mechanics – time, order, ect.
    • Any other ideas – check with me to make sure they will count
  • Write down your three new features and turn in one paper per group
    • Include all group members names
    • Describe your features
    • Get them approved by Mr. Page
  • Once your features are approved – work together to figure out how to implement them. 
  • Make a flow chart for each new feature and turn it in for approval.  All team members should be able to demonstrate and explain them to me.
  • After approval – start implementing the new features in your game.

Rubric – Formative

  • 20 points – All team members participated in the project and can explain how the new features work
  • 50 points – Written flowchart
  • 30 points – Three new features developed and implemented

This week will be continuing our tutorial on making a Mobile 3D Roller Ball style game.

Monday: Controlling the ball using the accelerometer

Tuesday: Controlling the ball with a swipe

Wednesday: Controlling the ball with a virtual joystick

Thursday: Adding collision objects / scoring points

Friday: Ending the game – play again and quit
